Regional Operations Coordinator - Middle East and East Africa (Africa/Middle East)

Habitat for Humanity International is currently seeking a talented professional to fill the role of Regional Operations Coordinator for the Middle East and East Africa (MEEA) region. Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Regional Operations Coordinator (ROC) is responsible for support to Habitat for Humanity entities to uphold the organizational covenant and to fulfill memorandums of understanding with the Area Office.  The ROC will focus on key country priorities as part of the annual plan and ensure integration of Area Office interventions at the Habitat for Humanity entities to promote balanced growth in stability, sustainability, and scale. This position will be located in Pretoria, South Africa.

 

This role encompasses the following areas of responsibility: 

*Planning.  Respond to support requests and ensure agreed upon interventions are carried out.  Consult and advise on annual and strategic planning;

*Monitoring. Review and recommend new partnerships and affiliate proposals to the Regional Director. Monitor organizational progress against goals.

*Evaluation. Assist, coordinate and/or implement national programme evaluations and other learning and monitoring tools. Monitor the Standards of Excellence compliance and report to the Regional Director and follow-up on ensuing recommendations. 

*Stewardship and Accountability. Assist with allocation and coordination of resources and participate in regional planning and budgeting.

*Capacity Building. Help identify and coordinate agreed Area Office interventions to build programmatic capacity (such as systems, planning, projects). Organize regional meetings, conferences and/or events in conjunction with the regional team.

*Crisis Management. As delegated by the Regional Director, trouble-shoot operationally-challenged organizations and/or those in transition. This may include diagnosing and resolving programme or staffing problems, ensuring and guiding programme re-design as needed, and serving as interim National Director during executive transition.

*Serve as interface and advocate between Habitat for Humanity entities and the Area Office.

*Servant Leadership.  Exemplify, encourage, and articulate servant leadership, modeling stewardship of the mission and resources as well as care for the well-being of Habitat for Humanity partners.

*Other duties as assigned.

 

 
Required Skills: 

*Fluency in English and working knowledge of Swahili and/or Arabic

*3 years related experience, preferably in social development planning and monitoring and evaluation practices

*3 years experience in the Middle East and East Africa region

*Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

*Strong skills in management/relationship-building as well as written and verbal communication

*Willing and able to travel 60%, and work outside of normal office hours, as and when required.

*Micro-finance and non-profit experience/knowledge preferred.
