Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a motivated professional for the position of Human Resources Coordinator - Haiti. Reporting to the HR Manager - Haiti, the HR Coordinator will provide a wide range of technical and administrative HR support to all HFHI's Haiti offices. This position will be based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

 

Responsibilities include:

Develop, in consultation with the HR Manager, HFHI HR & other stakeholders, an HR strategy for HFHI's disaster response efforts in Haiti.  Ensure the implementation and monitoring thereof.

Assist the Manager, HR in coaching & training in all aspects of the HR function - this includes managing change, salary administration, employee benefits & recruitment, staffing, employee relations, staff development & team building for local & international staff.

Actively promote & contribute to the establishment of HR standards/baselines & the standardization of HR policies and practices.
*
Keep the Manager, HR informed of all major human resources problem areas, developments & activities. Work actively with stakeholders & the relevant managers to resolve issues and act as liaison between US headquarters, and Haiti offices.

Work with the Manger, HR to build HR capacity through HR audits, training & ongoing support to the offices in Haiti
*
Communicate new policies/initiatives from US headquarters & regional office to Haiti offices.
*
Ensure that a performance management system is put in place for both local & international hires in the Haiti offices.
*
Assist management with the performance evaluation process & in the recruitment, selection, & hiring of new local and international staff for HFHI Haiti. Conduct interviews & relevant selection criteria matrixes.
*Assist and support international staff with relocation to Haiti.

Assist in creation and maintenance of job descriptions.
*
Coordinate interview schedules & sit on interview panels, as required, screen candidates for reference checks, & academic qualifications etc.
*
Assist in the formulation & implementation of HR policies for HFHI Haiti. Ensure that HFHI Haiti is operating within the statutory requirements of the labor laws.
*
Maintain relationship with other HR practitioners within & outside HFHI/HFHI Haiti partnership.

 
Required Skills: 
*Associate’s Degree.
*Bachelor’s Degree.

*1-2 years of related experience.

*Fluency in English, French and Creole.

*Excellent computer skills (MS Office).

*Good understanding of administrative and technical aspects of HR, including HR systems, procedures, job grading and recruitment.  

*Computer Literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), PowerPoint and the Internet.

*Proven research skills and/or experience.

*Ability to objectively analyze information in line with best practice and stakeholder needs. 

*Ability to anticipate the effects of a particular issue and to explain this to the stakeholder.

*Ability to assertively tackle issues and handle these from start to finish.

*Strong service orientation- provide consistent and reliable service to stakeholders, making every effort to meet and exceed stakeholder requirements & rive for excellent, value-added service in all areas of administrative support.

*Coss-cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate effectively with people from different walks of life.
