Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of National Director of Bangladesh for its work in the Asia Pacific region of the world. Based in Dhaka, the position is responsible for developing the capacity of Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh and its board of directors to fulfill the mission, purposes and goals of organization.  his person will enable sound organizational growth through effective consultation on strategic and operational development. The National Director provides servant leadership to the national organization, its volunteers and staff, and its programs and partnerships.

Responsibilities include:

- Planning and Leadership Impact: Play a key role in planning and direction of Habitat For Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB)and participates in strategic planning. and development of finance police and procedures.
- Provide direct oversight and support to the Finance Department Staff and ensure all transactions and financial reports are in compliance with Habitat For Humanity International (HFHI) and HFHB finance policies.
- Develop, implement, and monitoring of internal control procedures for the national office, affiliates, Habitat Resource Centre’s (HRC)  and partner organizations.
- Ensure all funds received by HFHB are accurately recorded, and compliant with HFHB Internal control procedures.
- Oversee the accounting function for the National office, affiliates and HRC and ensure transactions are recorded  accurately and timely, and financial reports are provided to stakeholders by the prescribed deadlines.
- Ensure statistical  data is captured and recorded accurately and timely basis and  reports are provided to stakeholders by the prescribed deadlines.
- Analyze national office, HRC and affiliate level financial and statistical reports on a monthly basis; track key indicators and timelines. Provide written or verbal analysis to stakeholders – HFHB managers and supervisors, committees and Asia Pacific Managers.
- Facilitate  the preparation of the  annual budget  with HFHB management to ensure  HFHB budgets are prepared as required by HFHI and HFHB.
- Advise and consult with National Office, affiliate and  HRC finance staff to ensure compliance with best practices, and  provide required  training, either by HFHB staff or from outside organizations.
- Ensure standard accounting recording and reporting for common program initiatives.
- Facilitate technical support for accounting software. for the National organization, affiliates and HRC.
- In consultation with the Country Director, preparation of grant proposals and funds transfers. Liaise  with the  Asia Pacific Grant Manager and other Area Office staff, to ensure all grant
proposal and funds transfer queries are followed up in a timely manner.
- Facilitate year end external audit, to ensure compliance with US GAAP and completion by HFHI due date.
- Ensure adherence to Government financial reporting requirements, and compliance and follow up on all finance related enquires form the Bangladesh government.
- Undertake other responsibilities and projects as required by the CEO.

 
Required Skills: 

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance or any related field.
- CPA or other accounting and finance certification preferred.
- At least 5 years in accounting and / or financial consulting including supervisory experience.
- Experience working in an international organization, preferably in an NGO
- Experience working with microfinance
- Excellent Command of written and verbal English.
- Direct experience in the project or grant accounting
- Working Knowledge of accounting software, QuickBooks and Sun Systems or similar programs
- Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheets, worksheets, word – Processing programs and the internet
- Advanced skills in information Systems, software installation, Computer based training and support
- Cross cultural Management skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Willingness to uphold the Christian principles of HFHI Interactions (with others to exchange information, opinions, and concerns to resolve problems. Description should include the level of problem solving (basic to complex), how much supervision is required to implement change and whether these actions required interpretation of established policies and procedures.)
