Repairs Coordinator - Haiti

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a dedicated professional for the position of Repairs Coordinator - Haiti. Reporting to the Associate Director, Programs - Haiti, the Repairs Coordinator will play a key role in HFHI's ongoing Haiti reconstruction efforts. By leading repair efforts, this position will directly impact the number of families Habitat is able to serve in Haiti. This position is based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Using knowledge of seismic regions, produce area-specific plan for large-scale home repair efforts
- In support of the overall repair plan, make recommendations around strategy, human capital, etc. that will be necessary for implementation
- Develop, design and manage Habitat's structural damage assessment process - this includes ongoing coordination and supervision of the repair team, taking necessary measures for quality control, and ensuring that repairs are completed in a timely fashion.
- Make frequent recommendations around repairs and retrofitting of homes; As recommendations are adopted, lead a local structural engineering team to implement the necessary repairs / retro-fits.
- Manage the budgets for multiple repair and assessment projects
- Represent HFHI at relevant technical and governmental groups and meetings

 

 
Required Skills: 

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management

* Fluency in English; Fluency in French and/or Haitian Creole preferred

* Strong background in structural engineering and construction cost analysis

* Strong construction knowledge / experience of seismic regions, specifically in the Caribbean

* Previous post-earthquake repair and retro-fitting experience strongly preferred

* Willingness to travel to both urban and rural areas of Haiti up to 70% of the time

* Previous experience working for an NGO / non-profit
